                                        EYE  SURGERY  

              Jon-Marc Weston, MD

Dr. Weston, a board certified eye physician and surgeon, received his Doctorate of Medicine and eye surgery training at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He was named Associate Professor and Residency Training Coordinator there and for six years taught and researched in areas related to lens implants for cataract surgery and laser applications in eye care.

 

Dr. Weston founded Vision Surgery & Laser Center and the Oregon Laser Eye Center (OLEC). He introduced the now standard No Needle, No Stitch Cataract procedure to Southern Oregon. At OLEC he performed the first laser vision correction procedures and as Medical Director, taught this technique to many other surgeons in our region. He was the first in the Northwest to use endoscopic laser for glaucoma and multi-focal lens implants. He continues to offer the broadest array of options for vision correction.

 

He is a Member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Weston is one of the few certified cataract surgeons in the Northwest and the only one in Douglas County. This certification is by the American Board of Eye Surgeons. He is past President of the Douglas County Medical Society and has received the Helen Keller Benefactors award and Melvin Jones Fellowship as part of his efforts to restore vision through Lions Club International.

                              John Hunts, MD

John Hunts, MD,   graduated from the University of Arizona Medical School with a residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1994.  He trained under world renowned physicians in Utah.

Dr. Hunts has board certification from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and fellowship training from both the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Society of Cosmetic Surgery, giving him the expertise to specialize solely in the eyelids and face. Board certification ensures that the latest techniques and most up to date training have been achieved.

Dr. Hunts specializes and performs the most visible facial cosmetic procedures; including face lifts, brow lifts, eyelid surgery, and injectables.

 

Dr. Hunts understands that facial plastic surgery requires skill, judgment, and a willingness to be open and honest with his patients.  Dr. Hunts is conservative in his approach to any surgery.  You will know that while he is developing a treatment plan that he feels is most effective, your goals are kept in mind as well.

 

Dr. Hunts provides Cosmetic Facial Surgical care at Rush Surgery Center in Brookings.  With over 18 years of experience, his expertise, artistic eye, and precise skill will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to face the world.  He will not recommend cosmetic procedures unless he feels that you will benefit from them and that you have realistic expectations of what the outcome will be.

Reginald Williams, MD

Dr. Reg Williams received his bachelors degree from Drake University, DesMoines, Iowa, in 1967.  He then attended Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA.  He graduated from Medical School in 1971.  He did his Internship and Residency in Family  Practice at Deaconess Medical Center, Spokane WA.

He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice.  He has a long history of emergency medicine, surgery and preventive medicine.  In addition, he is highly qualified in cardio-vascular emergency care.

He has been a FAA (Federal Aviation Agency) Examiner for 37 years.  He enjoys Aviation Medicine as he is a pilot himself.  He has been honored by the FAA for his years of service.

Dr. Williams has special skills in surgery as well as gastro-intestinal problems.  He has years of experience in colonoscopy and endoscopy evaluations. 

He has a broad range of experience, coupled with his relationship with other Primary Care Providers.  It is that strong consultation relationship with your doctor, working together, that yields a safer and better outcome for you.

Glenn  L. Levine, MD, FACS

Dr. Glenn Levine received his bachelors degree in Chemistry from Emory University, Atlanta GA in 1983.  He then attended State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.  He graduated from medical School in 1987.  He did his Internship and Residency in General Surgery at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, finishing his chief Residency in 1992.

 

Dr. Levine was first certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1993. 

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  He holds active licenses in both Oregon and California.  

Dr. Levine provides Surgical care in Curry County and serves on the National Advisory Board for Smith & Nephew's Negative Pressure Wound Therapy program.  
 

Dr. Levine has been committed to rural surgery since 1999.  Medical students from the Oregon Health & Science University in Porland rotate with Dr. Levine as part of the medical school's rural and community health clerkship.  

                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

                                                             PAIN  MEDICINE  SPECIALIST

Christopher Amsden, MD   

Dr. Christopher Amsden was born in Coos Bay, and during his school years was raised in Portland. ‘Dr. Chris’, or ‘Doc A’ had an affinity towards math and science, and also for helping people, from a very young age.  He graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland, where he also later obtained his medical degree in 1984, at OHSU.  Dr. Amsden is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as in Pain Medicine. He is specialty trained in Electrodiagnosis (EMG + NCS for nerve and muscle testing).  He is affiliated with the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the International Spinal Invention Society.  After his private practice experience in Oregon and California, since 1988, he now joins Portland’s interdisciplinary Pain and Injury Medical Group, as their medical director.  “Cooperative and allied treatment programs bring special challenges”, says Dr. Amsden, “but also the potential for achieving special successes, for both our patients and our staff”, as he notes the wide variety of treatments which his patients may receive, while working with our ‘Pain and Injury’ group.

When not helping his patients, Dr. Amsden enjoys hiking, skiing, working out, supporting the local restaurants, and fishing.  His friendly disposition and attention to detail have made him a welcome person in our patients' lives. His kids are now in college, while his wife ‘Dr. Niki’ is a clinical psychologist.  He would like to learn a bit about your lifestyle as well, which may help to improve your treatment program.  Dr. Amsden wants to help you attain symptomatic and functional improvement, regarding any stubborn pain or disability problems, which you may have.

 

                                                                      INTERNAL  MEDICINE  SPECIALIST

Douglas R. Johnson,  DO

Dr. Douglas Johnson received his bachelors degree in Biology from Portland State University, Portland, OR in 1975.  He attended West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia where he graduated in 1982. He did his internship at Flint Osteopathic Hospital, Flint Michigan and finished his Residency in Internal Medicine, there in 1986.

Dr. Johnson was first Board Certified in 1986, continuing until present, by the American College of Osteopathic Internists.  He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Internists and the Oregon Osteopathic Organization.  

He was in practice in Michigan until 2010 when he returned to Oregon.  He practiced in Grants Pass and Reedsport until he settled in Brookings in 2013.  He is a member of the Curry Medical Center in Brookings and has privileges at Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach and Rush Surgery Center in Brookings, Oregon.

 

Dr. Johnson enjoys a great relationship with other health providers.  He serves the Brookings community as the Team Physician for Brookings-Harbor schools.
